Clothes & Fabric Swap + Repair Workshop, Adelaide
Event description
Sustainable Clothing Co. & The Adelaide Sustainability Centre Presents:
Clothes & Fabric Swap + Repair Workshop: October 2024 Edition
Swapping your clothing promotes the reduction, reuse, and recycling of clothing!Â
This spring you are invited to the Sustainable Community Clothing Swap for October 2024, at The Joinery, 111 Franklin Street, Adelaide CBD; a community connected by a love for nature, sustainable living, and a desire to lead positive change.
You will also be able to participate in a repair workshop with two sessions on the day, running from 11:30am - 1:00pm and 1:30pm - 3:00pm (tickets to this workshop can be purchased alongside swap tickets)
NEVER BEEN TO A SWAP BEFORE? HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
- Simply gather a minimum of 5-10 pieces of clothing which are in good, wearable condition.
The more you bring along the better, if you want to bring more than 10 items for swapping, please feel welcome to do so! - Drop your donations into the Sustainable Clothing Co. store; 322 Grange Road, Kidman Park 5025, between Monday the 14th of October and Friday the 18th of October between 10am-5pm (322 Grange Road, Kidman Park, in the Thrift Hub) and we will take your items to the venue the morning of the event.
If you can't make it into town, you are still welcome to bring your clothes in on the morning of the swap to The Joinery as well. - On the day of the event (Saturday the 19th of October) come to The Joinery and pick up some new-to-you clothing!
The number of items you bring in is the same number of items you can take home - At the end of the swap, the majority of the remaining clothing will be donated onto supporting homelessness, ex-prisoners and women's shelters, along with Housing Choices SA (providing safe, secure and affordable rental housing) and the Anti Poverty Network (alliance of people affected and concerned by the effects of poverty and unemployment in Australia).
- Please note, the clothes swap is not a dumping ground for stained, ripped, unwearable clothing, instead ask us how we can recycle your damaged goods and consider bringing items to the swap that you would give to family and friends.
TICKETING:
Get your pre-paid $5 tickets for either the swap, $7.50 for the repair workshop; both on here on Humanitix, you're also welcome to pay with cash or card at the door on the day.
