Clothes and Textiles Mending Workshop @ Repair and Reuse Day
Description
Got worn-out clothes or household textiles in need of some TLC? Instead of tossing them out, bring them along for our hands-on Clothes and Textiles Mending Workshop @ the Repair Day! Whether it’s a favourite sweater, a torn curtain, or a damaged cushion cover, we’ll teach you how to breathe new life into your items using simple, sustainable repair methods.
What to expect:
Hands-on mending & learning: Bring your own repair projects and work alongside like-minded individuals. Our expert facilitator will guide you through the basics of hand mending—from patching holes and fixing seams to a dedicated group introduction to darning. No prior sewing experience is necessary!
Gain practical skills: Learn valuable tips and tricks to extend the life of your textiles. You’ll leave the session with a fresh set of everyday repair skills, a smaller environmental footprint, and the confidence to keep your favourite items in circulation and out of landfill.
We will provide all necessary tools—including needles, thread, wool, fabric for patching, and a sewing machine—but feel free to bring your own materials if you prefer. If you don’t have an item to fix, alternative practice activities will be available.
Places are limited, so bookings are essential and open to City of Canada Bay residents only.
