Event description

Nina Gbor and Waverley Council are joining forces to bring you a clothes swap party like no other on Saturday 25 October.

Come to the newly refurbished Boot Factory at Bondi Junction and swap your good-quality clothing with other members of our community as you groove and move to live music by Brendon Hui from Soulganic. Leave with unique pre-loved garments, style tips, new friends and the satisfaction of giving your clothes to a loving new owner So, let's save clothes from landfill while saving money and get swappin'!

How? Bring top quality clothes and accessories you no longer use to this event. We create a pop-up shop and hang them up beautifully on racks. You then browse, 'shop' and find second-hand treasures in exchange. Please note, this is a gifting swap. Please only bring clothes and accessories that you would happily give to a friend. Click here for our Clothes Swap Guidelines.

SCHEDULE

10am - 10:40am: Arrive at the venue, register and check in your clothes and accessories to add to the swap collection pool (1-10 items maximum). Our team will sort your items onto racks and tables. You are free to socialise or grab a coffee (don't forget your reusable cup) until the welcome and event briefing begins.

10:40 - 11am: Welcome briefing, sustainable fashion talk and clothes styling demonstration by Nina Gabor

11am - 12pm: The swap officially begins for an hour of sustainable clothes browsing and swapping

Fun fact: You will be swapping in a place with deep historical ties to fashion. One of the last remaining examples of Victorian industrial architecture in Waverley, the Boot Factory was built in 1892 by William Sidaway, the factory initially produced boots under the Sidaway & Son brand. It passed through a number of hands, shifting to the manufacture of high-class footwear and fashion shoes after World War II, with its 'Sally Smart' model becoming a household name in Australia. Now, it has been reinvigorated as a community hub and meeting place for all of Waverley to enjoy.
