Event description
Join us for our ongoing film screenings at LongPlay Bar in Fitzroy!
Club DVD is an event designed for film lovers to meet other film lovers in a cosy, relaxed, and fun way! Showcasing indie flicks and forgotten gems in an approachable and friendly space.
We'll watch the film together, then break into groups to discuss the film and get to know one another.
This specific screening is a fundraiser for the people of Palestine, with all proceeds being donated to UNICEF (Children of Gaza Crisis). We aim to facilitate an environment where you can discuss the documentary, while engaging in discussions on the genocide in Palestine.
Hosted and curated by Izzy Burns and Dayna Di Fulvio.

Documentary: Promises (2001)
Directors: B.Z. Goldberg, Justine Shapiro, Carlos Bolado
Runtime: 106mins
Synopsis: Promises is a documentary directed by B.Z. Goldberg that was filmed in 1997. It was recorded during a time of relative “calm” for Palestinians, and was documented between the two intifadas of 1991 and 2000. It follows the individual lives of several Palestinian and Israeli children, who share their perspectives on growing up in Jerusalem. Towards the end of the documentary, some of the children agree to meet each other.
Izzy & Dayna’s Review: Heartbreakingly beautiful, educational, and very clearly on the right side of history. A display of the resilience of Palestinians. A must-watch.
