Step into the vibrant world of Club Waack, where Saturday nights pulsate with energy, groovy beats, and the promise of Mama Doll's Waacking Extravaganza. This immersive journey catapults you back to the 1970s, celebrating the queer phenomenon of Waacking—a street dance style pioneered by the Black and Spanish gay community in Los Angeles. Presented through a distinctive New Zealand queer lens, Club Waack unfolds as a love letter to the glitz, glamour, and social constraints that defined the era.

Join Mama Doll and her fabulous waacking dancers as they navigate the challenges of the 70s, using waacking as a vessel for self-discovery and expression. The narrative unveils the protests and queer trials that threatened to silence it, showcasing its triumphant rise from societal rejection. The immersive experience transcends traditional theatre, making the audience active participants in the characters' world. Club Waack aims to provoke contemplation, encouraging the audience to construct meaning and reflect on their relationship with the Queer and POC stories and themes embedded in the performance.
