Meetings 101

Overview:

Monthly meetings are when and where the Committee should be doing its most important work. The structure and processes of these meetings can make or break a Club. This module is all about making your meetings effective, inclusive, satisfying, productive and legally compliant. The module will also ensure that you understand your Committee's legal responsibilities for General and Annual General meetings.

All Board or Committee members
All Subcommittee Chairpersons
All Subcommittee MembersClub Managers

What we'll cover:

the elements of an effective Board or Committee meeting
what makes a great agenda
what makes great board reports
role and responsibilities of the Chairperson, the Secretary and other participants
example Meeting Procedure policy
making the most of the different views, skills and experiences around the table
formal meeting procedures (including Points of Order)
what Minutes should include and exclude
dealing with unacceptable behaviour
difference between Committee and Subcommittee meetings

Meet Kate

Kate started designing and delivering training programs on governance and management for small community organisations in 1997 and is now Clubs SA's Lead Industry Consultant for the Club Development Program. Kate is the author of Just a Tick - A Best Practice Survival Guide for Boards and Committees of Management. Kate describes herself as a Nanny McPhee for Boards and Committees of small not-for-profit organisations who want to achieve better results in less time and with less stress. She does this through the provision of short duration, high impact training programs and workshops and by providing tailored, affordable, practical, hands on help to 'get stuff' done.
