Event description

This hands-on demonstration will walk participants through preparing and printing a file using a two- or three-color profile on a Risograph duplicator.

Led by Travis Shaffer of theretherenow., the session will cover key steps in file setup, color separation, and printing techniques. Attendees will gain insight into the unique possibilities of multi-color Risograph printing, especially for photographic images, and leave with anunderstanding of how to achieve layered, vibrant prints.

theretherenow. is a Risograph atelier founded in 2016 by artist-educator Travis Shaffer, focusing on the application of Risograph printing to photography and photo-adjacent work. Operating out of THE RISO ROOM @ THE CENTER FOR MARGINAL PUBLISHING at the University of Missouri, the atelier produces artist’s books, serial publications, folios, and exhibition catalogs collected by major institutions worldwide. Shaffer’s award-winning work is included in the collection of Yale University’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library; The University of the West of England’s Centre for Fine Print Research; and The University of Colorado-Boulder’s Photobook Collection. Shaffer is also a member of the Artist’s Books Cooperative, a group of international artists working with Print-on-Demand technologies.
