Event description

Across Tasmania, many of us are working in different ways to respond to the issue of family violence. While our roles, lived experiences, and perspectives may differ, we share a common hope: safer, stronger communities that are free from violence.

With that in mind, we would like to invite you to come together for a community conversation; a space where we can come together as people first, before titles or roles, to explore how we respond to family violence.

This isn’t about power or expertise: It’s about listening, sharing, learning, and building on the strengths that already exist in our communities.

Facilitated by the Jeder Institute and guided by Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) principles, this group will focus on:

• What’s strong, not what’s wrong

recognising the skills, relationships and local knowledge we already have.

• Collaboration over hierarchy—everyone has something to contribute.

• Respectful dialogue and shared learning—acknowledging that no single approach fits all.

We are not starting with a pre-set agenda. Instead, we want to co-create this space with community, for community. Whether you’re a service provider, advocate, survivor, or simply someone who cares deeply, your voice matters.
