Co-Farming & Accessing Land (for Your Future Farm!) - a Farmer Incubator Workshop
Event description
Join Farmer Incubator's current crew of Pop Up Garlic Farmers and the very wonderful bunch of folk who make up Harcourt Organic Farmers Co-op (HOFC) for a tour and panel discussion on "Co-Farming and Accessing Land (For Your Future Farm) - at a time when this model has never been more relevant!
HOFC is a collaboration of diverse organic farmers who lease land on a single farm in Harcourt, all working toward common goal: to make the farm as productive and profitable as possible, within a collaborative framework and using regenerative and organic principles. So far, it is proving a happy, productive and mutually beneficial solution for landowners Katie and Hugh (Grow Great Fruit) who want to step back from active farming but don’t want to sell the family farm and for the inspired and emerging farmers behind Gung Hoe Growers, The Orchard Keepers, Sellar Farmhouse Creamery and Carr's Organic Fruit Tree Nursery - who all wanted to get started on their farming journey, but found the cost of land prohibitive.
Our day will begin with a tour of the cooperative and conclude with an open, honest and genuinely inspiring panel discussion facilitated by Taj Scicluna (The Perma Pixie), covering all aspects of how this group have succeeded in making the co-farming model actually work for them, and the things they've learned along the way.
Please BYO water bottles and keep cups. Morning tea and a delicious shared lunch will be provided.
