Event description

Many regional teens are juggling club, representative, and multiple sports - often all at once. As a coach, understanding and managing athlete's training loads is essential to:

  • Build good humans

  • Boost performance when it matters

  • Support healthy growth and long-term development

This informative and interactive workshop will introduce you to the principles of load management and equip you with practical strategies to help young athletes balance their sporting commitments. You'll walk away with tools to support healthier, more resilient teen athletes - on and off the field.

Presenters:

  • Associate Professor Tom Doering - Exercise Physiologist and Associate Professor in Health Sciences, CQUniversity

  • Simon Poole - Exercise & Sports Physiotherapist, Movement Improvement

What you'll learn:

  • What load management is and why it matters

  • Practical tools and strategies for coaches

  • How to support athletes and communicate effectively with parents

  • Considerations for both team and individual sports

  • Hands-on guidance using a training load spreadsheet

💻 Please bring a laptop to complete your own athlete load tracking sheet during the session.

Whether you're coaching at club level or managing rep teams, this workshop will help you better support your athletes’ performance and wellbeing.
