Coaching Girls - Getting and Keeping Playing Workshop Hume
Description
Coaching Girls- Getting and Keeping Playing Workshop on Monday 22 June at Greenvale West Community Centre from 6-7:30pm.
Drawing on research from the Women’s Sports Foundation and evidence-informed coaching approaches developed by CHJS in partnership with Nike, this workshop explores what helps girls get into sport — and, importantly, what helps them stay.
Developed by CHJS in partnership with Nike, this workshop explores what helps girls get into sport —
and, importantly, what helps them stay.
The research shows girls love sport. They enjoy competition, challenge, teamwork, improving, and
achieving goals. Yet girls still start sports later and drop out earlier than boys, often due to negative
experiences, social pressures, gender stereotypes, lack of belonging, and environments that were not
designed with girls in mind.
This workshop helps coaches, volunteers, and sporting organisations better understand the “secret
sauce” for engaging and retaining girls in sport.
