Event description

Coastal custodians is a child-centred beach education and engagement program.

Coastal custodians highlights to children the reasons why they should protect the coastal environment. Through fun and games, participants will explore how and why we need to take care of the coastal environment.

Learning to care for the environment has several benefits. It improves mental health, decreases stress and increases awareness of environmental issues. An individual can have a great impact on their environment by taking on sustainable practices at home and educating those around them.

Spending time at the beach is a fun, nature-based activity for children. By exploring our coast, children will learn more about the animals that live along our beaches.

There are so many amazing things to look out for including shells, shark eggs, crabs, cuttlefish bone, seaweed, sponges, along with interesting rocks, sea glass and driftwood.

Children will need to wear comfortable shoes, hat and sunscreen.

This program is funded by the Alexandrina Council.
