Coastal Dune Walk in Spring


Event description

Walk the coast path with volunteers from local Semaphore Largs and Taperoo Dunes Groups to learn about this place, the plants & animals from those that know it well. 

Learn about this fragile ecosystem and the valued work of volunteers to educate and protect by restoring natural habitats and minimising threats to the plants and animals that call this place home.

This walk is approx. 4km over a 2 hour period and a moderate level of fitness is needed. We will walk from Semaphore to Taperoo. Walking surfaces include footpaths, soft sand, grass and may include some gentle inclines and declines.
 
Meeting spot: shelter sheds at Semaphore Foreshore (on the grassy area between Semaphore Jetty and the Carouse)

Meeting time: please meet the group at 9.45am so we can all be ready to start promptly at 10am

There are toilets located at Semaphore foreshore area and near the Largs Bay Jetty.

What to wear/bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Sun protection (hat, suncream, sunglasses)
  • Raincoat (if wet weather is forecast)
  • Filled water bottle
  • Snack/fruit
  • Backpack or bag to carry loose items
  • Personal items such as medications eg puffers
  • Camera (optional)

Participants under the age of 18 years must have a registered ticket and be accompanied by an adult.

Cancellation: We reserve the right to cancel if the weather forecast predicts unsafe conditions for our leaders and the public eg severe weather or thunderstorms – we will notify you with as much notice as possible should this happen.
