Coast and Cultivate - The Launch, Country, Community and Bush Food
Description
Gardens • Habitat • Sustainable Food | June - November 2026
The first of a seven-event series of talks & garden visits for communities on Ngambaa Country. Hosted by Scotts Head Community Group and featuring Aunty Angel, Ngambaa Elder, Ngambaa Bush Food Products. Open to everyone from seasoned growers to curious beginners. Come to one event or all of them.
Starting at the gorgeous community garden, host Aunty Angel will assist us to build a connection to the local country we grow on and care for.
Discover the local indigenous bush foods and their many uses.
You will be surprised at how many of these food and medicinal plants are in your gardens and the streets you walk past each day.
We will head towards the beach and explore the foreshore vegetation.
Aunty Angel will share with us information about culturally maintaining these areas, in particular through the methods of cultural burning.
This first workshop will allow time to "sow roots" in order to cultivate a strong network of passionate gardeners.
These events take place on Ngambaa Country. We acknowledge the Gumbaynggirr and Dunghutti peoples as traditional custodians of this land and pay respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
