Event description

We are excited to have our next Code of Ethics in July 2023!

The Code of Ethics for Youth Work in Aotearoa defines key values and standards for youth workers in Aotearoa. Developed around the six principles of the Youth Development Strategy Aotearoa, the Code is comprised of 27 clauses critical to effective, ethical youth work practice and practical examples of how they might apply in youth work.

It's not about what you can't do. It's about growing in solid youth development practice for our rangatahi and celebrating the unique and necessary approach that defines youth work.

The Code of Ethics for Youth Work in Aotearoa does not have a 'Treaty clause', instead a commitment to biculturalism is woven throughout the document. In order to have our Ethics Training better reflect this, we intend to hold our training at a marae. Don't be shy! We know some of our Youth Workers haven't had the opportunity to stay at a marae before, but there will be a lot of value for your personal and professional development by weaving this in with Ethics training.

Also, this training is a prerequisite for membership with the Rerenga Awa | Canterbury Youth Workers Collective.

Programme:
