Disabled activists have been saying it all along: nothing about us, without us! From advisory groups to full codesign and coproduction projects, Disabled young people have more opportunities to shape the programs, resources, and services that are meant to support us. It's a fantastic change, but not without challenges:

how do you get involved in a group like that in the first place?
How do you decide how much to share?
What does fair compensation look like?
What do we do if we still face ableism or ageism in these spaces?

Come together with other Disabled young people to talk about these questions and more, as well as hearing from two Disabled activists who have run and participated in codesign projects.

Facilitators

Aoife Ryall (they/them)
Aoife is a genderqueer chronically ill young person. They’re passionate about disability justice and valuing lived expertise. Aoife has been part of several codesign projects, including groups for the inaugural National Youth Disability Conference with Children and Young People with Disabilities (CYDA), Drummond St Service's Your Way Through counselling service, and Ygender's Sex Ex and Consent resources. They're currently part of the codesign group for Get the Go-Ahead, an affirmative consent project for Disabled young people by Women's Health East.
They’re enthusiastically neurodivergent and queer, love their pet cats, and can often be found buying more yarn than they can knit.

Kochava Lilit (zey/zir, they/them)
Kochava is a queer disabled activist with a focus on disability justice and competing access needs. Kochava has facilitated codesign processes for Trans 101 (a set of resources on trans rights and gender diversity by Ygender), Future Reset (arts programs for disabled young people by Arts Access Victoria), and Signal's Disability Action Plan. They are currently the project coordinator for Get the Go-Ahead and Women's Health East.
Kochava loves being neurodivergent and Jewish, going down Wikipedia rabbit holes, and planning their next D&D game.
