Description

YOUR SUNDAY, SOUNDTRACKED.

Coffee Club is back.

For its first edition at Breakfast FM, we're spending Sunday with one of the defining records of modern soul: Jill Scott's Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1.

But the record is only where we begin.

Across seven hours, selected vinyl gives way to live performance, guest selectors and DJs — moving through neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop, broken beat, soul and whatever feels right in the room.

Come for the record. Come for coffee. Meet someone new. Stay for the afternoon.

This isn't a listening party. It's a Sunday spent around good music and good people.

THE RECORD THAT OPENS THE DOOR.

JILL SCOTT

WHO IS JILL SCOTT? WORDS AND SOUNDS VOL. 1

Released in 2000, Jill Scott's debut sits at the meeting point of soul, jazz, poetry, hip-hop and everyday life.

Warm, conversational and deeply musical, it's a record about love, desire, independence and figuring yourself out — delivered with the feeling of somebody telling you a story from across the table.

We'll hear selected sides on vinyl, rather than play the album from beginning to end.

From there, we follow the connections.

Jill Scott → Erykah Badu → D'Angelo → Musiq Soulchild → Floetry → Common → J Dilla → Cleo Sol → Kaytranada and beyond.

The purpose of that final line is to make the wider musical proposition tangible and help people understand that they're buying much more than a Jill Scott playback.

FROM FIRST COFFEE TO LAST RECORD.

11AM — DOORS OPEN
Coffee, conversation and records. Ease into Sunday.

THE RECORD
Selected vinyl from Who Is Jill Scott? and music from the world around it.

LIVE FROM BREAKFAST FM
An intimate live performance, recorded from inside the room.

THE AFTERNOON
Guest selectors and DJs take over as Coffee Club moves from listening into something more social.

6PM — CLOSE

LIVE. IN THE ROOM.

Breakfast FM isn't simply where we're meeting.

It's a working recording space.

Each Coffee Club will create something that lives beyond the Sunday itself, beginning with a live performance captured from inside Breakfast FM.

No enormous stage. No barrier between artist and room.

Just musicians, an audience and a performance close enough to feel.

LIVE ARTIST — TO BE ANNOUNCED

THEN WE TURN IT UP.

As the afternoon moves on, so does the music.

Our selectors and DJs will take Jill Scott's world as a starting point rather than a boundary — moving through neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop, broken beat, funk, soulful house and whatever else belongs in the room.

Coffee Club starts around the record.

Where it finishes is up to the afternoon.

HEADLINE DJ — TO BE ANNOUNCED

LESS SITTING DOWN. MORE SEEING WHERE THE DAY GOES.

Coffee Club is ReconnectLDN's daytime gathering for music, community and connection.

There are records worth stopping for, performances worth getting close to and DJs that might make staying for one more track turn into another hour.

There is no panel. No music knowledge required. No pressure to experience the day in a particular way.

Come alone or bring someone. Grab a coffee. Find your spot.

The common ground is the music.

BREAKFAST FM × BREAD & BUTTER

For this new chapter of Coffee Club, we're taking over Breakfast FM at Bread & Butter in Shoreditch.

Part café, part recording space and part cultural meeting point, it's somewhere built for exactly the kind of Sunday we had in mind.

Coffee will be pouring. The recording equipment will be running.

We'll bring the records.

COMING SOLO? GOOD.

You won't be the only one.

Reconnect has always been about creating rooms where arriving alone doesn't mean spending the evening — or in this case, the afternoon — alone.

Music gives everyone somewhere to start.

Come in. Get a drink. Say hello.

We'll take it from there.

GOOD MUSIC HAS A WAY OF BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER.

Come for the record. Stay for where it takes us.
