    Event description

Coffs Harbour Sustainable Schools Network Meeting for Term 2, 2024

    When: Tuesday 11 June, 4 - 6.30pm
Where: Crossmaglen Public School, (384 Crossmaglen Rd, Crossmaglen)

In Term 2, our meeting will spotlight local inspiring primary school and host, Crossmaglen Public School, which has sustainability at the core of its philosophy.

    Kids in the Kitchen Program
The grounds are a sanctuary for local native species, coupled with a bountiful school garden embedded into the ‘Kids in the Kitchen’ program where students grow, harvest and cook with seasonal, organic produce from the gardens. Crossmaglen Public School teachers will give a short tour, share stories of how students are empowered through the Kids in the Kitchen Program and tips for implementing similar initiatives at your school or centre.

    Hands-on Fermentation Workshop
To kick off the fun and inspire educators in reducing food waste, join local foraging and fermentation educator Gabriel Gutnik of Ziggy's Wild Foods, in an engaging, hands-on fermentation workshop to transform your veggies from food waste to delicious taste using the magic of fragrant wild ingredients, fermentation and time. You'll take home your very own hand-made preserved veg and new pickling skills so that you can apply and share your new skills to reduce waste at your school or centre.

Local initiatives, events and story sharing
The workshop and discussion will be followed by a meeting, to connect with other local educators.

Warm drinks and delicious afternoon tea will be provided.

The Sustainable Schools Network (SSN) is a collaborative partnership between Midwaste, the City of Coffs Harbour and Sustainable Schools NSW.
