    Event description

Join us for a day of talks, workshops, exhibitions and conversations to help build more Collective Housing* in Aotearoa.

If you are interested in papakāinga, cohousing, cooperative housing, community land trusts, or housing innovation in general, this event is for you!

This hui brings together a range of collaborators across industry, government, professionals and residents to discuss our lived experiences and the need for systemic change in our housing sector.

Turn a Friday hui into a long weekend of Collective Housing inspiration by joining us again on Saturday to tour 26Aroha, Cohaus and Earthsong, three brilliant examples of Collective Housing in action.  (The tours are now sold out)

*Collective housing comes in a huge variety of forms.  At its heart collective housing looks at different ways to design, build, finance, and live in our homes.  This different way of doing things tends to prioritise community, well-being, cultural expression, sustainability, and other values-based concepts over profit and economic considerations.

The status quo in housing, construction, and capitalism does not change easily and the status quo in Aotearoa New Zealand is not friendly to Collective Housing projects.

How can we identify the changes needed, and take the next steps to realise change that is achievable to enable more collective housing outcomes to occur more easily?
