Report Launch: Collaboration for Disaster Resilience
Event description
Collaboration is at the core of building disaster resilience - to build a more resilient society in which all Victorians can thrive, the way our disaster management agencies work together with the community is critical.
Community organisations play a key role in collaborations for disaster resilience due to their trusted role in the community. In April VCOSS will launch a new research report, Collaboration for Disaster Resilience, which showcases six case studies of collaborations in practice from across Victoria.
These case studies demonstrate what can be achieved when the community sector, government, and emergency management agencies work together. The report identifies key enablers of collaboration and actions that all actors can take to strengthen this important collaborative work.
Join us for as we launch this report with a webinar and panel discussion with experts and practitioners leading collaborations for resilience across Victoria.
Our speakers
- Silva Nazaretian, Director of enliven (part of Each) will speak about the Multicultural Community Engagement Network
- Angela Cook, Engagement Advisor – People at Higher Risk Community Preparedness, CFA, will speak about the Emergency Planning Advice Service
- Amanda Howard, Team Manager – Emergency Recovery Support Program at Gippsland Lakes Complete Health, will speak about collaboration within and across regions during recovery.
VCOSS is the peak representative body for Victoria’s social and community sector, and the state’s leading social advocacy organisation. We work towards creating a Victoria that is fair, just and inclusive. A society where nobody is trapped by poverty, and everybody is supported to live a life of wellbeing.
