Description

When the Flowers Bloom ⁕ Immersive Collage Workshop (3 hours)

Step inside When the Flowers Bloom and take part in an intimate, hands-on collage workshop designed as an extension of the exhibition experience, held in the lead-up to International Women’s Day.

Its a beginner-friendly workshop designed to explore resilience, self-expression, and collective healing through image, colour and texture. This is a supportive creative experience, no art background needed.

You’ll move through a series of prompts inspired by the artist’s own process of transforming lived experience into visual language.
A DJ-led musical journey will shape the mood and pacing of the room as you create.

What you’ll do

  • Create 1-2 original collages using guided exercises and intuitive making

  • Explore emotion-to-image translation using symbolism, textures, and colour

  • Learn simple visual tools:

    • Colour + mood

    • Composition + balance

    • Conceptual imagery + storytelling

What’s included

  • 3-hour facilitated workshop

  • All materials provided: magazines, papers, scissors and glue. Optional: You can bring personal images, poems, or notes you may want to include. Any magazines or paper materials you’d like to collage from.

  • Step-by-step prompts + creative guidance

  • DJ-led soundscape to support the activity.

Facilitator / Artist Overview

Antonella Morelli is a multidisciplinary visual designer and artist based in Melbourne, Australia. For over a decade, she has travelled and worked internationally as a graphic designer, bringing together a global perspective, a poetic sensibility, and a deep fascination with imagery, symbolism, and emotional storytelling.

Her artistic practice is rooted in collage art and with a surrealist influence, blending mixed media, photography, colour, and texture.

Antonella began tutoring in Berlin in 2017, teaching Illustrator and Photoshop to emerging designers and guiding them into visual communication. She currently runs her own design studio, where she focuses on branding and visual design for clients across creative and commercial industries.

Antonella believes collage is a journey of self-expression, a space to unravel, reconnect, and translate feeling into visual language. In her workshops, she creates environments that are gentle, reflective, and empowering, encouraging participants to honour their voice and explore creativity without rules or pressure.
