These Summer Holidays, we're opening our doors to Victorian High School students currently in years 10, 11 and 12, to participate in a series of practical, hands-on workshops!
Come and experience what it's like to live a day in the life of a Collarts student. We have 15 workshops to choose from across 2 days! See our full list of workshops below!

* Please note, this is only open to High School students currently in years 10, 11 or 12 in 2024
** Lunch will be provided for full-day workshops and snacks will be provided for half-day workshops
*** Please note, some workshops require a minimum number of attendees to run successfully. We will notify you 5 days in advance if this workshop will not proceed.

FASHION DESIGN | FASHION COLLAGE WORKSHOP
Half-day - 9:30am - 4:30pm

Join us to create expressive one-of-a-kind fashion composite figures and mood board artworks. This workshop is for beginners and will familiarise you with composition, cutting techniques and embellishments. You'll create fun collage art using your own cutting techniques and leave with a great art piece to frame, use as a gift card and the confidence to use materials in creative ways for self-expression and storytelling.
FASHION MARKETING | FASHION STYLING WORKSHOP

Discover the art of editorial fashion styling and photography in our immersive workshop. Dive into the world of creating captivating editorial content and images for fashion media. Learn the secrets of styling techniques and gain hands-on experience working with a live model and mannequins in a photographic studio. Refine your skills in concept development, lighting, and composition to produce editorial images to communicate compelling stories.
PERFORMING ARTS | CREATING COMEDIC CHARACTERS

This workshop introduces students to the process of creating physical characterisations, and the steps to creating enduring comedic characters for any medium. Through playing fun theatre games, students will learn the basics of developing comedic characterisation through improvisation, observation, movement and clowning skills.

SCREEN & MEDIA | WRITE A SHORT FILM IN HALF A DAY

INTERIOR DESIGN | MODEL MAKING WORKSHOP

Transform your design ideas into a 3D Model. You’ll kick off with an introduction to the design process, learning how to brainstorm ideas, sketch layouts, and select materials. Working with a range of materials like cardboard, foam core and material samples you’ll take your ideas from concept to creation. With expert tips along the way, you'll develop your own unique model and gain invaluable insights into the world of interior design. You’ll walk away with your very own 3D model, showcasing your creativity and newfound skills.
MUSIC PERFORMANCE | ENSEMBLE WORKSHOP

The Music Performance Ensemble workshop is perfect for young musical talents who wish to learn about the fundamentals of collaborative band techniques. Facilitated by our ARIA award winning performance teaching staff, students will learn the specifics about repertoire and explore musical arrangements in our state-of-the-art live music studios at our Brunswick St campus.

GRAPHIC & DIGITAL DESIGN | VECTOR DESIGN AND ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR

The graphic and digital design workshop is perfect for students wanting to learn the basics of vector graphics to make icons, symbols and logos. Get hands on with industry standard software like Adobe Illustrator to level-up!
ENTERTAINMENT MANAGEMENT | TALENT SCOUTING AND MUSIC SYNCING
Half-day - 9:30am - 12:30pm

In this interactive session, you’ll take on the role of a talent scout, discovering emerging artists and developing strategies to launch their careers. You’ll also learn about the creative process of music syncing and how to choose the perfect track. Whether you're interested in managing talent or curating soundtracks, this workshop will show you how the entertainment industry brings talent and creativity together.
MUSIC PRODUCTION | INTRODUCTION TO SOUND DESIGN AND SYNTHESIS IN ABLETON
Half-day - 9:30am - 12:30pm

Students will engage in a short course working through the fundamental principles of synthesis and how they can be applied into original production. Throughout the day, participants will work within Ableton and industry standard hardware synths.
AUDIO ENGINEERING | SETTING UP A PA AND GETTING IT SLAMMING!
Half-day - 1:30pm - 4:30pm

Setting up a PA system, getting it working and sounding great is a great skill to have. This workshop will use a few different PA's with a lot of hands-on time to practise this and get yourself comfortable with setting up a PA system, anywhere, anytime!
DIGITAL & SOCIAL MEDIA | VIDEO PRODUCTION FOR SOCIAL MEDIA
Half-day - 1:30pm - 4:30pm

Go beyond Reels and basic social posts and dive into the valuable skills of video production. Using Adobe Premiere, participants will learn the basics of video editing and export across all social media platforms that will take your social posts to the next level!
