COLLARTS | SUMMER Workshop Series

These Summer Holidays, we're opening our doors to Victorian High School students currently in years 10, 11 and 12, to participate in a series of practical, hands-on workshops!

Come and experience what it's like to live a day in the life of a Collarts student. We have 11 workshops to choose from across 2 days! See our full list of workshops below!

* Please note, this is only open to High School students currently in years 10, 11 or 12 in 2025 and Year 12s in 2026
** Lunch will be provided for full-day workshops and snacks will be provided for half-day workshops
*** Please note, some workshops require a minimum number of attendees to run successfully. We will notify you 5 days in advance if this workshop will not proceed.

FASHION & SUSTAINABILITY | HEALING STITCH WORKSHOP

Get creative at our Healing Stitch Workshop, where fashion meets mindfulness. Learn the art of slow stitching and explore decorative and visible mending techniques to give your favourite garments a new lease on life. Express your unique style, relax your mind, and connect with others who love fashion, design, and the beauty of slowmaking. Come stitch your way to something beautiful, one mindful thread at a time. 

PHOTOGRAPHY | PHOTOWALK - A PHOTOGRAPHIC DISCOVERY

Join us as we reimagine the ordinary, by embarking on a visual adventure around Collingwood. In this fun workshop we will explore how composition, subject, colour, design and lighting can combine to create interesting narratives and inspiring photography. With an eye for abstracting elements you will sharpen your camera and lighting skills while exercising your creative minds. Get ready to unlock your curiosity and see the world with fresh eyes!

INTERIOR DESIGN | SKETCH TO SPACE: BRINGING IDEAS TO LIFE

Step into the world of interior design in this creative workshop! Discover how designers bring ideas to life through drawing and rendering, learning quick sketching and visualisation techniques to capture your concepts with flair. Experiment with colour, tone, and texture to express mood, style, and materiality, and watch your designs leap off the page!

GRAPHIC & DIGITAL DESIGN | ILLUSTRATOR FOR BEGINNERS
Half-day - 9:30am - 12:30pm

Ready to turn your ideas into vibrant vector magic? This hands-on session is the perfect place to start if you’ve ever opened Illustrator and thought, “...what do all these tools do?”. You’ll learn how to create simple logos, illustrations, and layouts using smart, efficient techniques that will make you feel confident navigating the program. No prior experience needed, just bring your curiosity, creativity, and a laptop with Illustrator installed. By the end, you’ll have a mini design you can proudly say you made in Illustrator!

MUSIC PERFORMANCE | EXPERIENCE MUSIC PERFORMANCE

Get ready for a hands-on music experience where you’ll specialise in one of three exciting areas: Songwriting, Vocals, or Instrumental Performance. SCREEN & MEDIA | DEVELOP YOUR FILM IDEA

2D ANIMATION | CARTOONY PORTRAITS

Join us for a creative deep-dive into the art of cartoony portrait! In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn the basics of human face construction and how to push features to create expressive, exaggerated cartoon characters. Whether you're a beginner or looking to loosen up your style, this class is all about exploring personality through playful distortion. Bring your sketchbook and pencils, and get ready to develop your own unique cartoon face!

MUSIC PRODUCTION | ABLETON - INTRO TO SYNTHESIS

Come join the Collarts Music Production team for an introduction into Ableton and sound design. You will be learning the fundamentals of analog and digital synthesis using Ableton’s in-built synthesiser engines. Come create, experiment, and shape your own unique sounds!

ENTERTAINMENT MANAGEMENT | DISCOVERING AUSTRALIAN MUSIC
Half-day - 1:30pm - 4:30pm

In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore what makes Australian music so unique, from iconic sounds to hidden gems. Discover where and how to find new music, learn how to really listen like an industry pro, and get an inside look at Melbourne’s vibrant community radio scene and youth music organisation The Push. Whether you dream of working in the music industry or just love Aussie tunes, this session is your backstage pass to the heart of Australian music!
