These Winter Holidays, we're opening our doors to Victorian High School students in years 10, 11 and 12, to take part in a series of practical, hands-on workshops!

Come and experience what it's like to live a day in the life of a Collarts student. We have 10 workshops to choose from across 2 days! See our full list of workshops below!

SATURDAY 2ND JULY 2022

ANIMATION LAB
Full-day - 10am - 4pm
Cromwell St Campus | 67/69 Cromwell St, Collingwood
In this practical, hands-on workshop, you'll be guided through the basics of Maya. We'll introduce you to this industry-standard software and show you the steps you need to take to create your own 3D model. Whatever your ability, you'll soon be able to design and model a 3D prop that could be used in a computer game, animation film or VR environment.
 

ACTING 101 | BUILDING A CHARACTER
Half-day - 10am - 1pm
George St Campus | 2/156 George St, Fitzroy
How do actors create full and rounded characters? This fun and interactive workshop looks at the basics of Stanaslavki's System and how actors can use their imagination to develop truth and depth in their roles. You'll take part in games for actors, relaxation and creative exercises, as well as specific scene work. This workshop will help you get to the next level in your acting in an enjoyable and non-intimidating way!

MUSIC PERFORMANCE | ENSEMBLE WORKSHOP
Half-day - 10am - 1pm
Brunswick St Campus | 209 Brunswick St, Fitzroy 
This workshop will be an immersive experience where you’ll join a band to perform songs on your chosen instrument! You'll get a taste of what it's like to play music with your peers and rehearse in a fully equipped rehearsal studio while gaining vital skills in collaborating with other musicians in a fun and supportive environment! 

FASHION STYLING
Half-day - 10am - 1pm
George St Campus | 2/156 George St, Fitzroy
In this workshop, you will learn the art of flat-lay styling in our purpose-built photography studio. This is a great opportunity to learn some of the important skills to help navigate studio equipment, and studio lighting and learn techniques to style and stage fashion products in a professional environment.

FASHION DESIGN | WHAT WAS OLD, IS NEW AGAIN
Half-day - 1pm - 4pm
George St Campus | 2/156 George St, Fitzroy
Join our Head of Fashion & Sustainability, in this hands-on workshop that will show you how to transform what you thought was old, into a brand new garment. This workshop will give you an understanding of the sustainable fashion techniques taught in our Fashion & Sustainability course and will have you reinventing and repurposing a t-shirt for a more fashionable future!

SCREEN & MEDIA | WRITING A SHORT FILM
Half-day - 10am - 1pm
Dragon Image Studios | 72-74 Cromwell St, Collingwood
Join us in this practical, hands-on workshop and learn how to write a festival-worthy short film. This workshop will offer you an excellent understanding of short screenplay structure and teach you how to build complex and compelling characters.

INTERIOR DESIGN | SKETCHING & DRAFTING LIKE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER
Half-day - 10am - 1pm
Cromwell St Campus | 67/69 Cromwell St, Collingwood
In this workshop, students will learn to develop a range of techniques to carry out a basic measure up and produce sketched floor plans. Participants will explore the concept of drafting and how Interior Designers use these principles to create floor plans, elevations, and other technical drawings.

PHOTOGRAPHY | PORTRAITURE WORKSHOP
Half-day - 1pm - 4pm
George St Campus | 2/156 George St, Fitzroy
In this workshop, you will learn how to shoot that perfect portrait! We will take you through the fundamentals of portraiture camera techniques, lighting, posing and working with models. We will cover multiple lighting techniques both in a professional photography studio and on location using natural light.

SUNDAY 3RD JULY 2022

AUDIO ENGINEERING | INTRO TO AUDIO AND MIXING
Half-day - 10am - 1pm
Wellington St Campus | 208 Wellington St, Collingwood
In this workshop, you will be getting hands-on with audio production in our state of the art Auditorium. You will learn some cool techniques by setting up microphones on instruments, as well as tips for mixing live music using both analog and digital technology.  

MUSIC PRODUCTION | ABLETON LIVE WORKSHOP
Half-day - 1pm - 4pm
Wellington St Campus | 208 Wellington St, Collingwood
In this workshop, we will uncover the behind-the-scenes process of music production, and show you some of the essential tools a music producer uses in everyday music creation. During the workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of working with Ableton Live, which is one of the world's leading music production software!
