Description

Paint it bright, paint it happy

Join Emily Crockford for a relaxed creative workshop and make a small, colourful painting on canvas. Inspired by the things that bring you joy, create your own artwork while enjoying a cuppa and a slice of cake.

Thursday 19 Nov, 11.00am – 1.00pm at Mona Vale Creative Space

Everyone is welcome. Adults with and without disability are invited to take part in creative workshops led by professional Studio A artists. Create alongside others, try something new and contribute to a community exhibition celebrating creativity and connection.

About the artist

Emily Crockford transforms the world around her into a lyrical universe of bold colour and intricate pattern. Her assured, vibrant style has seen her become a celebrated figure in Australian contemporary art, with major public commissions including Oysters Eating Rainbows (WestConnex M5), A Possum is Watching (Sydney Metro), and the Art Gallery of NSW mural Love owls and mermaids singing in the rainbow pop.

A four-time Archibald finalist, Emily has also twice exhibited in the Salon des Refusés. Her work has been shown at leading institutions including AGNSW, Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Artbank, and features in significant public and private collections.

Emily works with Studio A in Sydney. As a leading Australian supported studio, Studio A is driven to ensure artists with intellectual disability have a voice in contemporary Australian culture and to provide employment to their artists through sustainable creative industry careers.

Your artwork, on display

Your artwork will become part of the exhibition at Mona Vale Library, launching on International Day of People with Disability, Thursday 3 December.

Artworks will remain with the exhibition and are not available to take home on the day.

At the workshop, label your artwork with your first name for display and provide your preferred contact details. At the end of the exhibition, we’ll contact you to arrange collection from your preferred library location.

The Library will hold artworks for one month after the exhibition. Any artworks not collected within this time will be donated.
