Come and Try Bush Action Team - Happy Valley
Event description
Bush For Life volunteers look after many precious native bushland sites by removing weeds that compete for space and resources so that our bushland can regenerate naturally.
Come and Try Bush Action Team (BAT) days are a chance to give it a go for yourself and see how you can make a difference in your local patch. It's also a great way to see different areas that you may not usually visit, meet new people and learn what the Australian bush is all about within suburbia.
BAT days run from 9am-3.30pm but participants are welcome to attend for a few hours, half a day or the full day. Transport yourself to the site or register to catch our minibus which can transport you from our Brooklyn Park office or at designated pick-up point on the way.
No prior skill or knowledge is required. All the training and PPE you need will be provided on the day by our friendly skilled staff.
This activity is suitable for anyone who is in general good health.
There is some bending and squatting involved as well as walking a short
distance over uneven ground.
Participants will be sent more detailed information and the specific bushcare site location when they register.
On the day you will need:
- Suitable clothing (hat, long pants and long-sleeved shirt)
- Boots or strong shoes (good grip)
- Drinking water, morning tea and lunch
- Folding chair
- Sunscreen and insect repellent
Any children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. This activity is most suited to ages 15+.
Bushcare volunteering is a rewarding and practical way to help your local environment.
