Come and Try Bushcare at Happy Valley

Come and Try days are a chance to give bushcare a go for yourself and see how you can make a difference in your local patch. They are also a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and discover the bush that exists in our suburbs.

Come and Try bushcare days run from 9.00am - 3.30pm but participants are welcome to attend for a few hours, or for a half or full day.

Transport yourself to the site or register to catch our minibus which can transport you from our Brooklyn Park office or from a designated pick-up point on the way.

No prior knowledge or experience is required. All the training, equipment and personal safety gear will be provided on the day by our friendly and knowledgeable staff.

This activity is suitable for anyone who is in general good health. There is some bending, kneeling and squatting as well as walking a short distance on uneven ground.  

Any children (17 or under) must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. This activity is most suited to ages 13+.

Participants will be sent detailed information about where to meet on the site after they register.

On the day you will need:

·       Suitable clothing (hat, long pants and long-sleeved shirt)

·       Boots or strong shoes (with good grip)

·       Drinking water, a snack and lunch

·       A folding chair

·       Sunscreen and insect repellent

Bushcare volunteering is a rewarding and practical way to help nature in your local environment.
