Comedy Night at Miss Gee's
Event description
Tauranga, we are well overdue for some laughter!
Miss Gee's presents: Comedy Night ft. Dai Henwood, Courtney Dawson & Paul Douglas.
DAI Of course you know him from THREE’s topical comedy panel show 7Days, TVNZ's Have You Been Paying Attention, as previous host of Dancing With The Stars, Family Feud, and Lego Masters New Zealand - Dai has been a fixture on our screens since he was tearing it up on Insert Video Here on C4 back in the the day.
Of course there's all the Comedy Galas, Dai's House Party, AotearoHA's as well, and he's produced two DVDs, 2009's Dai Another Day and Adapt or Dai released in 2013.
Dai has had international success also, notably being invited to the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. This coupled with consistent sell-out success at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, and winning all of the awards; The Billy T Award, The Fred Award (twice), NZCG Best Male Comedian - make Dai one of our most accomplished, and favourite, comedians.
He’s as Kiwi as Hokey Pokey, jandals, and L&P. Old school New Zealand, and still spells school properly. The RSA, the surf lifesavers, and the local dairy mixed in with a whole lot of funny. He’s Dai Henwood. It’s what he do.
Courtney (Ngāti Kurī, Waikato-Tainui) is an award-winning Auckland-based comedian, mother, and occasional, begrudging biography writer. She is the co-host of two seasons of Māori Television’s Rags are Riches, has appeared on TVNZ’s Have You Been Paying Attention? and has co-written a sitcom that is currently in development.
Courtney stumbled into her first comedy gig in 2018, and since then has been traveling round the motu, spinning yarns and breaking hearts. She was the winner of the NZ Raw Comedy Quest and Best Newcomer Award in 2019, before going on to debut a sold out duo-show in the 2021 International Comedy Festival, Half and Hawhe.
A rising star of the Aotearoa comedy scene, she hopes to continue rising until eventually exploding spectacularly in a giant ball of fire.
Paul Douglas is one of the busiest live stand up comedians in New Zealand and winner of Best Live Show and Best Gag at the 2019 New Zealand Comedy Guild Awards.
A master storyteller, Paul’s simultaneously laid back and frenetic energy has been winning over audiences for more than 10 years and will leave you wanting to have a yarn with the man himself.
A regular headliner across New Zealand and as seen on 7 Days, Guy Montgomerys Guy Mont Spelling Bee and TVNZ’s Comedy Galas.
This will be a show not to be missed - with limited tickets available due to the nature of our intimate venue.
