Utilising smart energy efficiency measures is the easiest and most effective way to make your home more comfortable and affordable. In this session, we’ll explore the things that you can do quickly to improve thermal comfort, as well as those that are more long term, like insulation. In the second half of this session we’ll open up a panel discussion and Q&A session with our experts.

Tim Forcey, My Efficient Electric Home

Trained as a chemical engineer, Tim has taken a keen focus on the sustainable production and efficient use of renewable energy. He has experience with renewable heat and electricity, heat pumps, energy storage, fuel-switching, alternatives to fossil gas, methane emissions, energy efficiency, energy and carbon management, building and home energy, electricity, gas, oil, and petrochemicals.

More recently, Tim founded the hugely popular Facebook group, My Efficient Electric Home (MEEH), a leading free database of information about improving the sustainability, comfort and efficiency of homes around Australia.

Dr Sarah Feiss, Sustainability Victoria

Sarah is Team Leader of the Sustainable Homes team at Sustainability Victoria. Sarah is an architect by trade and a Certified Passive House Designer. Sarah recently returned to Sustainability Victoria after completing a PhD through Swinburne University which investigated the potential for sustainability transitions through social practice theory research. Sarah currently leads Sustainability Victoria’s 7 Star Homes Program, which works with residential builders to increase industry capacity and capability for delivering energy-efficient homes.

Host - Talina Edwards, Envirotecture

Talina has over 25 years experience in Architectural practice, and is a registered Architect in Victoria, a Certified Passive House Designer and is currently undertaking the Living Future Accreditation course to pursue her regenerative-design ethos for a society that is socially just, culturally rich and ecologically restorative.
