Event description

Are you a 13–16-year-old comic book fan? Do you want to get serious about the art form? Centre for Stories, in collaboration with Perth Comic Arts Festival and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, is offering a one-of-a-kind opportunity for five keen young comic makers to undergo an in depth, hands-on mentorship with acclaimed comic artist Lola Baldsing.

Here’s the best bit—not only will you create (and, yes, print!) your best comic yet, you’ll be invited to show it off at the epicentre of the vibrant Perth comic community—Perth Comic Arts Festival itself!

Whether you’ve written one comic or a thousand, here’s your chance to take the next step. Learn from a real industry professional how you can improve your process, develop your style, and discover what makes audiences tick. Any genre, any story, any idea, anybody!

The mentoring workshops will be held at the same time and location across several Sundays:

💥 2 March

💥 16 March

💥 30 March

💥 13 April

💥 4 May

Please note, if you accept a ticket, you are expected to attend all workshops.

🕡 Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
📍 Location: Centre for Stories

As part of Centre for Stories’ the Spark, this unique mentorship has been fully funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, and Healthway. This means every resource, session, and snack provided—even the high-quality print of your very own comic—is completely free for participants.

Figment to Festival is the perfect opportunity to gain key industry skills and meet like-minded creatives—sign up now and take your comics to the next level!
