The Tweens and Teens period brings massive new challenges to every family. And modern life adds some of the most difficult of those challenges! It can be an exciting time - but also harrowing, for everyone in the family.

Every child is unique, but there are also universal developmental themes that play out, and it helps parents a lot to understand those, and to learn how best to address the stage-specific needs of tweens and teens.

In this “ask-me-anything” online workshop you’ll have an opportunity to bring your questions, and to gain invaluable insights about yourself and your young person at home. Listening-in to other parents’ questions will also inform your own parenting journey.

To get the ball rolling, I’ll begin with a few things to say about

· The teenaged brain

· The specific developmental needs of tweens and teens

· Understanding how parents get triggered – and what to do about it

· Game-changing communication strategies

Thereafter, where we go will depend on your questions! We can talk about the lot:

screen-time, chores, schoolwork, sexuality, peer groups, diet, politics, alcohol and substances … and more.

Please Note: Depending on numbers, not everyone might get to ask a question on the night. I’ll strive to get to as many of you as possible! Also, I’ll do my utmost to make sure my responses have relevance for most, if not all, parents. So, every interaction will have something for you. Of course, I may not always have an answer; and when I don’t know, I’ll make that clear.

I’m a psychologist with 35 years’ experience working with families, couples, adults and teenagers. As an article-writer, blogger and author of three books about parenting and psychological healing, my research has delved deeply into developmental neuropsychology and anthropology. I’ve taught my courses and workshops for parents and teachers around Australia and the world.
