Commercial determinants of health (CDoH) refer to private sector activities that affect people's health, either directly or indirectly, positively or negatively. These activities include supply chains, labour conditions, product design and packaging, research funding, and lobbying, all of which impact a wide range of risk factors for ill health. This webinar will discuss a framework for defining and analysing CDoH to support the development of strategies to counteract their influence.

Dr Jonathan Hallett is a public health academic in the Curtin University School of Population Health teaching political theory and policy advocacy, and is engaged in research with the Collaboration for Evidence, Research and Impact in Public Health (CERIPH). Jonathan is particularly interested in the ways in which vested/commercial interests and ‘morality politics’ influence the development of public policy to the detriment of public health. His research also focuses on underserved populations and the intersections of stigma and discrimination with health inequalities.
