Common mistakes employers make with their staff

This interactive session addresses common myths and mistakes employers make when managing their employees and the best ways to avoid them. Staying on top of your obligations as an employer or manager can be tough, especially when you are trying to run your business.

This workshop is part of a series presented by TCCI Business Services Manager, Stacey Joseph, in partnership with the Devonport Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Find out about why and how:

  • you need to consult with staff
  • check that employees are being paid correctly including, overtime, allowances and penalties
  • to ensure you have the required workplace documentation so employees understand your expectations of them
  • to check assumptions about employee motivation, engagement and performance
  • to understand how employees feel about the workplace

These topics will be explored through case studies with recommendations on practical actions you can take to avoid making them yourself. Those who attend will be provided with templates and resources to assist with compliance.
