Philip Emilio Baker leads a group of world class musicians celebrating the life and legacy of iconic jazz pianist McCoy Tyner, whose mentor was John Coltraine. Phil has traveled the world with Pink Martini, Diana Ross, Gino Vannelli and many others. Phil and fellow musicians Ron Steen, Jon Manis and George Colligan share experiences playing with McCoy's collaborators. Also featured will be Japanese Koto player Masumi Timson and Cuban percussionist Miguel Bernal. The evening will reflect the spirit of McCoy Tyner, who said: "I think music should have some spiritual elements because it's not material. It's another kind of dimension and it should be there for you to touch people's spirit and lives. You need to give them a unique experience and if you don't, something's lacking. It's not about wanting to hoist yourself up on some sort of pedestal. I have no way to define it, to tell you the truth."
