3-week Commonwealth Art: New Zealand
Discover the rich artistic heritage of New Zealand in this engaging three-week course led by tutor Anne.
Open to all skill levels, this hands-on workshop explores the styles of two iconic New Zealand artists across a variety of mediums.

We will start with 20th-century Modernist painter Rita Angus, renowned for her vibrant portraits and landscapes. After studying her distinctive use of colour and Cubist influences, Anne will guide you through painting or drawing your own custom landscape.
Next, we will explore contemporary Māori art through the work of Sofia Minson.
Inspired by ancient myths, Minson’s paintings often feature native birds blended with traditional Māori motifs. We will examine her style to create a unique piece of wildlife art.

Students can use their choice of medium, including oils, watercolours, or drawing tools.

All core materials are supplied!

ABOUT THE FUNDER

This workshop is partially funded by The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland.

Their support is helping us bring people together through our Commonwealth programme of cookery, sewing and writing activities, giving local people the chance to learn new skills, try something different and enjoy taking part in free community sessions.
