COMMUNION (1989)

February 15 - we are excited to finally screen COMMUNION, Phillipe Moira's 1989 adaptation of horror novelist and ufologist Whitley Streiber's 1987 book! Long maligned, unappreciated, and misunderstood, COMMUNION will be screening with an exclusive introduction by Mary Rodwell - Australia's leading authority on extraterrestrial phenomena.

COMMUNION tells the purportedly true story of Whitley Streiber's encounters with and abductions by aliens, the effect it has on his relationship with his wife and children, and his coming to terms with it. Streiber, who wrote the screenplay himself, is portrayed here by Christopher Walken in a fascinating performance and Streiber's wife Anne is portrayed by Lindsay Crouse.

Scored by Eric Clapton and directed by Australian Phillipe Moira with empathy and open-mindedness to such a strange and unique plight, we hope COMMUNION will begin to be reappraised in the near-future for all the fantastic qualities it has!

Screening prior to the main feature will be a Black Maria short film production written and directed by our very own Russell Wyatt Roberts! Titled Room 8, this cosmic horror focuses around a cameraman in mourning who is hired by a mysterious employer to film a specific crevice in the titular motel room and the strange incident that happens as a result.
