Community Base Tour by the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust

This is your chance to see what happens behind the scenes at the GCH Aviation hangars which house the Westpac Rescue Helicopters and the New Zealand Flying Doctor Service. 

In this 45-minute walking tour of the base you will be able to get up close to the helicopter and speak to the crew about the life-saving missions they complete. Between the services they fly over 2,200 missions per year. We will also be viewing the hangar of the New Zealand Flying Doctor service, our sister charity who transport patients throughout the country and as far away as the Chatham Islands.
