Community Engagement Practitioners Learning & Networking Event: Inspiring Connection, Fun, & Creativity

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

This event is for anyone in the Nelson-Tasman region who has community engagement (public participation) within their role or is interested in this field.  It's a chance to get to know others who do this type of work and find synergies within our work projects.  It's also to celebrate the work we do that empowers and draws upon the wisdom of community members in decision-making and place-shaping opportunities, ultimately creating thriving communities.

This is not your average networking event...

We’ll be opening with some fun icebreaker activities then moving into a learning activity then networking. Please arrive a few minutes early to settle in so we can start our activities at 3pm.  The event is coordinated and facilitated by Zola Rose, a member of IAP2 Australasia.

For the learning activity, we will do a short version of an activity from the Dream, Play, Build book, as a taster into a different methodology for place-making engagement that uses tactile processes, play, memory, and story.

Next, we'll discuss topics that participants are eager to learn more about for future engagement practitioner events, possible speakers, how to structure future events, how often to meet, how to stay connected, etc.

We’ll conclude with unstructured free flow networking for the remainder of the time. Bring your business cards to share.

We will have a prize giving for the “best flair” so come wearing something that brings flair to your outfit (eclectic earrings, snazzy scarf, hilarious hat, bodacious brooch, big belt buckle, trendy tie, notable necklace, wacky wig, etc)

Refreshments will be provided.

After 5pm, if the weather is nice and if you have the time, optional swim in the bay so bring your togs.

This event is hosted by the IAP2A Nelson-Tasman Local Network Group and generously supported by the IAP2 Australasia Local Network Grants Fund.
