Community for Creatures - Family Nature & Art Event

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

We all love our Australian creatures and the places they call home.  But nature here in Australia is in trouble.  More than 2000 animals and plants are on the threatened species list and that number keeps growing!

Join us for a free family fun day at the magnificent Karawatha Forest Park celebrating nature.  Activities include:

  • a bush ramble seeing Australian plants, birds and animals (arrive at 7:45am for an 8am start);
  • painting, drawing and writing on the 3 metre by 1 metre Community for Creatures banner (shown below) which will be delivered to the local MP Jim Chalmers;
  • seeing the Australian animals from Geckoes Wildlife up close and personal (10am & 10:45am start times)
  • enjoying the nature play space;
  • visiting the Karawatha Discovery Centre;
  • creating your own postcard to send to your MP or Tanya Plibersek, Federal Minister for the Environment asking for strong protection of our threatened species;
  • conversations with like-minded locals interested in conservation;
  • enjoying a BYO picnic afterwards in the beautiful Karawatha Forest Park picnic area.
