13th Feb - Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony w/ the Wurundjeri Council.

Join us at Newlands Neighbourhood House as we start this year paying our respects to the traditional owners of the lands in which we work, live and grow. Alongside a Wurundjeri Elder we will take the time to reflect on the year that has past and the way that we can understand country through the Aboriginal Seasons.

We will also celebrate the launch of the NUCA Community Climate Action Series and NECCHI Community Garden Series.

27th Feb - Where to grow your garden with Cultivating Community

Starting a garden from scratch? This session brings together keen gardeners and growers to look at how to plan a garden, how to make the most of the space you have, community gardens and offers different ways to think about gardening.

13th March - Preparing your soil and planting spaces with Cultivating Community

Prepare, Prepare, Prepare! It's time to start thinking about soil, composting and preparing your garden for planting. We have invited soil experts and horticulturalists to discuss all to know about what to plant into.

27th March - Building a Veggie Box with Fi from Hey Neighbour

THIS SESSION HAS BEEN POSTPONED. IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED A TICKET, WE WILL BE IN TOUCH WHEN WE HAVE A NEW DATE ARRANGED.

This session we will create a low cost garden bed from ethical materials for the Newlands Community Garden. You will learn how to make a garden bed - all abilities welcome led by our our resident gardener and carpenter Fi!

1st May & 15th May - Native Planting with Merri Creek Management Committee and Friends of the Merri Creek.

Native grasses are low-care, perfectly suited to our environmental conditions, and look beautiful when planted en masse!

Join us for two hands on workshops which will cover plant types, cultivation, when to collect seed, ecological background and grassland Indigenous history. Best of all, this is hands-on experience so come along and get dirty with some native grasses!
