How can we support children's wellbeing in the Upper Yarra?

Join us at the Millwarra Community Building for a hands-on community workshop where your ideas can help shape real, funded projects that will strengthen social connection for children aged 0–6 years and their families in the Upper Yarra. Let’s build social connection for children, together!

This event is for parents, carers, community members, and community organisations who want to play an active role in supporting the wellbeing of children in the Upper Yarra. You're welcome to bring a project idea of your own, or come along to support others and get involved.

Lunch will be provided. Children are welcome but must be supervised by a parent or carer.

Please feel welcome to arrive from 9.30am onwards, with the workshop starting promptly at 10am.

Parking information

The Millwarra Community Building is located on the same site as Millwarra Primary School in Millgrove. To avoid walking through the school during school hours, please use the parking area at the rear of the Community Building. To access this parking, continue driving past the entrance to Millwarra Primary School on Cavanagh Road. Then, turn left onto Moore Crescent and follow the road past the pre-school. At the end of the road, you’ll find the car park. The Community Building is the large green building to the left.

Background

Upper Yarra families have told us that they want more opportunities for social connection in the community. Through the Listen to Learn project, we heard stories from over 230 local families about what social and emotional wellbeing means to them. This workshop is the first step in supporting the Upper Yarra community to come up with project ideas, choose which ones get funded, and design the final plans alongside families of young children. We want to make sure families have a strong voice in what happens and that the community leads the way in creating positive change.

About the Upper Yarra Partnership

The Upper Yarra Partnership is a collaboration between early years services, education providers, health and community organisations and, local and state government agencies. Together, we work alongside families and community to improve wellbeing outcomes for early and middle years children (0 – 14 years) in the Upper Yarra. It is our shared vision to see children in the Upper Yarra with strengthened social and emotional skills, enabling them to be resilient with strong relationships and engaged in learning.
