Community Mobilisation: A practical workshop for community leaders across Greater Melbourne
Description
Community work is one of the most fulfilling civic activities you can do. But it can also be hard. And you shouldn't have to do it alone.
Mobilising your community is meaningful work yet it can be relentless. Getting people through the door, sustaining momentum, navigating obstacles without a playbook. The small breakthroughs you've had, the barriers you've quietly cleared, the approaches that unexpectedly worked. These are the stories that rarely get told, but they should be!
This workshop brings together community leaders from across Greater Melbourne to share what's actually working, learn from each other, and build lasting connections that can sustain us and give us energy when we need it most.
Ideal for:
Neighbourhood organisers and street-level conveners
People running community programs with limited support
Emerging leaders stepping into a community role for the first time
Those who’ve been at it for years and want to reconnect with the ‘why’
Those who work in either volunteer or paid capacity
Anyone who’s felt isolated doing this work and wants to connect with like-minded people.
On the day:
Discover your community leader archetype and reflect on the power of different leadership styles working together
Rotate through peer-learning stations that explore wins, creative methods to mobilise and overcoming barriers
Help shape what ongoing support for Melbourne's community leaders could look like
Become part of a Melbourne-wide network of community leaders and continue to connect beyond this workshop
Come with your stories and leave with new ones. Light refreshments will be provided.
Facilitators: Nina Sharpe (Regen Melbourne) and Mehak Sheikh (WYN Hub)
