Event description

Community Planting Day on the Gawler River

Sunday July 7th, anytime between 9.30am-4pm

Join us at the Gawler River planting day for the one day, two days or just a few hours on one, or both days, planting native tubestock on the north bank of the River to consolidate and extend one of its most significant revegetation precincts. You’ll also hear about the challenges of establishing plants in fast flowing floodways and see some of the wildlife that has returned to the repaired ecosystem.

Bring your energy and commitment to the environment and share the experience of creating new habitat with GRRR! (Gawler River Riparian Restoration). Holes are pre-dug!

The site is only a two-minute drive from GAWLER, with parking along Roediger Rd, Buchfelde (southern end); then follow the signs.

What to bring: Hat & gardening gloves. BYO water bottle, am/pm tea & lunch, depending on when and how long you are planning to help.

What to wear: Sturdy shoes, clothing appropriate for outdoor work/planting and the weather on the day.

Children: We welcome children to take part in the event but please note they will need to be supervised as the river is flowing and is not fenced off. There are also some steep areas near the planting site which are not fenced off.

If you are keen to lend a hand for however long or short a time, please register your attendance.

If coming on SUNDAY please register following the registration steps (get tickets) on this page.

If you would like to come on both days, then please also register for the Saturday event using this link: Community Planting day on the Gawler River- Sat July 6th | Humanitix
