Community Planting, North Brighton Community Garden
Event description
Come and spend the morning planting native species to assist the North Brighton Community Garden!
The wonderful gardeners at the North Brighton Community Garden have been working to improve this small section of Bowker Oval into a beautiful and biodiverse pocket park, but they need your help. Council would therefore like to invite you to join us all for a fun morning of planting. This will be followed by an "educational and bonding" lunch at the adjacent Community Garden where the volunteers will highlight the principles of healthy seasonal circularity - the growing, cooking and sharing of fresh, seasonal produce along with any required composting (see image at bottom).
This will be an opportunity to be involved in the transformation of this area and explore the North Brighton Community Garden, as well as get to know other local residents and the wider community.
Please arrive at 10.15am to allow time for registrations. Bring along gardening gloves and a small hand trowel, wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, closed toe shoes and a hat or rain jacket (depending on the weather). We will provide any additional tools and equipment that are needed. Children will need to be supervised at all times by a parent or guardian.
Bookings are essential so we can make sure we have enough equipment and lunch for everyone.
