Community Resilience Hīkoi
Description
Gather at Parihaka to hear the history of a community maara kai based in a traditional Māori papakāinga that was created as a centre of peaceful resistance to the 19th century land thefts. Walk the vegetable rows, box gardens, food forests and native habitat restoration with a playground and hear how the maara feeds the three marae, residents and wider whānau and hapū, supports the community to kōrero Māori and develop the skills to grow kai.
Cost.
This is a koha event. Please join in the working bee before/after the hikoi and bring some kai to share.
