Community Resilience Workshop with Dr. Jean Renouf
Description
Communities cannot simply wait for governments or institutions to solve everything for us. They have an essential role to play — but so do we.
And communities already have far more capacity, knowledge and agency than we often realise.
This workshop with Dr Jean Renouf will move beyond discussion of the challenges we face and focus on practical, social and emotional action: understanding local risks, identifying existing strengths and gaps, strengthening connections, exploring how we respond to uncertainty, fear, pressure and loss, and identifying what your community can begin doing now to become more prepared, connected and resilient.
This workshop follows a Book Launch and conversation with author Dr Jean Renouf, on his new book ‘Unspeakable. Facing up to the climate catastrophe and its consequences in Australia’, co-authored with Prof. Richard Hil.
Dr. Jean Renouf is a business leader and community resilience practitioner, founder of Safer Future and Plan C, and a firefighter with Fire and Rescue NSW, working at the intersection of climate disruption, civic life, and place-based response. He spent fifteen years working in war and disaster zones overseas before settling in the Northern Rivers of NSW.
