Filmmaker Sharon Cleary wanted to know what makes him tick.
At 96, this much-loved Kaurna Elder has a lot to say about how to live a purposeful life and 'what the heck' really matters!
In The Eclectic Professor Sharon invites Uncle Lewis to reflect on his personal journey of self-discovery through Kaurna language and learning, visiting some of his favourite places and hearing what he loves most about his beloved Kaurna Culture and Country.
Set against the times through which he has lived (b. 1930) we hear how social, political and everyday events impacted on the choices he made.
In his own words he shares eclectic ‘snippets’ from his extraordinary life and the many varied things he has learnt along the way.
In his twilight years, Yarluburka – this 'old man of the sea’ – has a unique perspective that combines his infectious wit and wisdom with undaunted optimism, revealing an indomitable spirit for finding common ground.
He truly is a trailblazer for ‘padni-adlu wadlu’ (walking together in harmony).
