  (Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards) Regulations 2025;

• the challenges and opportunities presented by the new regulations; and

• how we can work together to improve the energy efficiency and electrification of rental homes in Victoria.

Tenants and rental providers can both benefit from increasing the energy efficiency and electrification of rental homes. Real estate agents are key to supporting them in making the changes needed to comply with the new regulations and contribute to the energy efficiency and electrification of rental homes. With energy efficiency and electrification, homes are made more comfortable for residents in hot and cold weather, bills are lower and property values increase. Everybody wins.

Jacob Caine

Jacob the President of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria and the Real Estate Institute of Australia, representing both at COP29. He's a Director of the Melbourne Opera Charitable Foundation and a Victorian Government Housing Advisory Board member. He is currently Co-Chair of a three-year project into Property Management Best Practices being undertaken by the Consumer Policy Research Centre. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Melbourne, an MBA from Monash University, and a Master’s in International Relations from Harvard University, where he graduated on the Dean’s List for Academic Excellence. He is a PhD candidate at the Australian National University’s National Security College,

Kate Nicolazzo

Kate runs the Melbourne social change agency Let Me Be Frank -  where she works to solve a range of climate and sustainability issues, including sustainability in apartments. Their 2024 High Life Expo sold out, attracting over 1,000 registrations, and proved there's a huge appetite among apartment residents for exactly this kind of support. That’s why Kate is getting ready to launch High Life Living as a new not-for-profit organisation that wants to see a future where no apartment resident is left behind in the transition to sustainable, climate-resilient living.

There will also be plenty of time for questions and discussion following the speakers.
