Community Tree Planting on Stonequarry Creek

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Join us for a native tree planting day as part of our new project working with Great Eastern Ranges (GER) and Greater Sydney Landcare (GSL) teams to boost water catchment and biodiversity health. This project is supported by Amazon Web Services (AWS).  Through this two-year project, AWS and GER plan to restore the local environment and support wildlife in key locations in Wollondilly Shire, improving water yield and quality, and enhancing the recovery, preparedness and resilience of local communities against the effects of climate change.

This project site was impacted by recurring floods over six months in 2022, with floodwaters eroding streambanks and increasing sedimentation. The project will work to improve and maintain the critical wetland habitat including weed control, infill plantings with flood-tolerant ground covers and re-mulching, ultimately supporting creek bank soil stability and resilience to mitigate flooding impacts further downstream.

All tools and guidance provided.

Please wear sensible clothing for working outdoors and enclosed shoes.
