Event description

Join Malima for an immersive Aboriginal weaving workshop, where you’ll discover the uses of traditional plants and fibres to create baskets, traps, fishing ropes, and more. In this introductory session, you’ll learn two versatile weaving techniques—rope-making and basket weaving—guided by experienced cultural educators.

Malima offers enriching cultural experiences and facilitates hands-on workshops that celebrate and share Aboriginal knowledge. This workshop is proudly led by Dharawal women from the La Perouse Aboriginal community, whose cultural connections to coastal Sydney and Botany Bay bring authenticity and meaning to every workshop.
